Occupying a beautifully restored mill, Dark Woods Coffee is a specialist coffee roasting and barista training school.

Hanson music is a family firm based in Marsden, West Yorkshire. Best known for their award winning clarinets and saxophones, they also manufacture a large range of quality acoustic musical instruments, components and accessories. Visitors to the workshop and showroom are welcome, but appointments are recommended so that they can best help you. A comprehensive repair and refurbishment facility is available for all makes and models of brass and woodwind instruments, violins and guitars.

Home of Marsden Musical Institute and its four brass bands, including Marsden Silver Prize Band. The club has a licensed bar, with a large functions room catering for anyone wishing to celebrate a special occasion in a lovely, friendly family atmosphere.

Situated near to the centre of Marsden, close to the Railway Station, the Conservative Club is a friendly and popular Festival venue. A full range of drinks – beers, cask ales, wines, spirits, soft drinks, coffee and snacks – sandwiches, pies etc. – are available.

With a dramatic hillside location, Marsden Cricket Club has a comfortable clubhouse and on-site parking.

Set in the Pennine hills above Huddersfield, on the edge of the Peak District National Park, Marsden Golf Club is one of the most picturesque in Yorkshire, providing spectacular views over Butterley reservoir and the surrounding countryside. Just 10 minutes drive from Huddersfield and the M62 motorway, and just 15 minutes from Oldham, the golf club offers peace and tranquillity whilst being within easy reach of both conurbations. With the close proximity of several other courses, excellent reasonably priced local accommodation and easy access to the motorway network, Marsden is an ideal location for those mid-week golfing breaks.

Marsden Pre-School Playgroup provides high quality, affordable childcare for children between the ages of 2 and 5 years. They are Ofsted registered and provide a happy, secure and caring environment for children to begin their first steps of education through a stimulating range of play based activities. They run a lunch club in partnership with Marsden Infant and Nursery School and offer wrap around care for children attending part-time school nursery.

A large, friendly club with dance floor and a range of very reasonably priced drinks including Tetley bitter and mild, John Smith bitter, and Carlsberg lager. Sandwiches are available at the bar.

Situated on the main Manchester Road, just east of the centre of Marsden, the Socialist Club has a Concert Room with seating for 120 which makes an excellent Festival venue.

Peel Street is the main shopping street in Marsden.

A legendary club, known locally as The Cot, Puleside Working Men’s Club is the highest altitude club in the village, offering spectacular views over Marsden. A warm welcome is guaranteed. The Jazz Bus operates to this venue – please ask for a timetable at the Jazz Festival Shop or the Festival Box Office in The Mechanics Hall.

Slaithwaite Bandroom lounge bar is now open to the public. Why not call in for a drink or two and try one of our guest beers. Function Room Hire If you need a venue in which to host a children’s party, wedding celebration, birthday, anniversary, concert, dance or any other special occasion our large hall is available for private functions. We have a stage, kitchen, large dancefloor and bar which makes it ideal for all types of functions, large or small, day or night.

Known as “The Cathedral of the Colne Valley”, the impressive St Bartholomew’s Church is our only ticketed venue for 2022.

Situated in a beautifully restored warehouse on the banks of the historic Huddersfield Narrow Canal, about a mile from the village centre. Take a short walk along the scenic canal bank. Parking only available to people with mobility needs.

Situated 2 miles out of Marsden on the A62 Manchester Road. The Carriage House is a welcoming family friendly Pub and Restaurant serving an extensive range of traditional home cooked food. Menus include an a la carte menu, bar meals and bar snacks. The Carriage House also has a Turkish speciality menu with authentic Turkish dishes. House special Turkish mixed grill “IZGARA” a selection of lamb kofte and sucuk, chicken and beef kebabs cooked on a char grill and served on a sizzling platter with Turkish mixed salad and rice topped with spicy chickpeas. Vegetarian meals available. Food served : Friday 12noon – 9.30pm, Saturday 12noon – 10.pm, Sunday 12noon – 8.30pm. Guest Ales including Black Sheep. Selection of lagers, speciality cider menu, and wine list. Bed and Breakfast is available, with 7 new en suite rooms. We are also offering newly developed camping and caravan site facilities.

The Cowshed at Edibles in West Slaithwaite is a multi functional space for meetings, events, workshops and gigs. Stroll outside into our permaculture vegetable plot and forest garden. Can be booked together with catering, using home grown produce and outdoor cob oven.

The Main Hall at Marsden Mechanics is one of the two ticketed venues for 2022.

Situated on the main Manchester Road in the centre of Marsden, the New Inn offers a fine selection of food and drink. Always a pulsating and lively venue during the Festival weekend. Accommodation is also available (see details on their website).

An ever-popular Festival venue, the 19th Century Railway Inn provides an ideal setting for jazz along with a range of fine beers and tasty bar food. Situated just opposite Marsden Railway Station.

A Public House with a difference! They brew their own beers in-house. There are seven standard beers all named after local reservoirs. There will be a special bitter brewed for the occasion of the Jazz Festival. Food available throughout the festival weekend – booking recommended.

Situated in the very centre of Marsden close to Marsden Mechanics, the Shakespeare offers a good selection of beers and lagers. Always a popular Festival venue.

The University of Huddersfield school of Music, Humanities and Media is a superb modern building, providing a vibrant teaching, learning and research environment for over 1800 students and around 130 staff.
