We are really happy to welcome back Musica Kirklees, who will be hosting a full day of music at the Bandstand in the Park on Saturday 12th October. Showcasing some of the finest young musicians in the area, their bandstand shows will feature performances from all of the fantastic Musica Kirklees Big Band and Jazz ensembles. There will also be a range of stalls open in the Park during the day.

Last but certainly not least, we’re introducing you to Cath Roberts of Sloth Racket. We caught up with Cath about jazz journeying, approach to collaborations and improvisation, as well as what inspires and gives Cath energy to keep making music.

We got chatting to Bex Burch, to find out a bit more about her jazz journeying so far and what you can expect from her solo performance at this year’s festival…

Chronotope: Music in a Different Time and Place is a brand new commission from Marsden Jazz Festival which has been specially created in summer 2020 in response to the unprecedented global pandemic of Covid-19.
