Friday 10th October
7.30pm Zoe Gilby & Andy Champion – Voice & Double Bass Duo
We are really thrilled to have Zoe and Andy back at MJF again. Breathing fresh life into the familiar as well as heading off to the uncharted, this well-honed duo know each other by heart. Their approach is bold, hypnotic and mesmerizing; Interacting and infiltrating one another’s sound. Removing the boundaries they exploring space and time with just voice and double bass. Total jazz craft, spirit and virtuosity.

Rob Luft’s journey as a jazz guitarist has been nothing short of remarkable. Praised by The Times for his performances with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, he quickly gained recognition as a musician destined for greatness. His accolades include the prestigious 2016 Kenny Wheeler Prize and 2nd Prize in The 2016 Montreux Jazz Guitar Competition, adjudicated by guitar great John McLaughlin. Critics and audiences alike were captivated by his debut album, and he received nominations for several awards, including “Breakthrough Act” in the 2018 Jazz FM Awards and “Instrumentalist of the Year” in both the 2018 Parliamentary Jazz Awards and the 2019 Jazz FM Awards. Rob is a major rising star of the UK jazz scene and we are proud to present his MJF debut in 2025.
Saturday 11th October
11am MiniFest – A Gig For Kids
A fun, live musical experience for children that adults will love as well! The gig is jam packed with original songs written especially to stimulate young imaginations and encourage physical activity, and some familiar favourites too! MiniFest is free to enjoy, but you’ll need to book your place through the link below.
5.30pm Threeway with special guest Rob Luft

Threeway are:
Steve Waterman – Trumpet/Flugelhorn

Ben Crosland – Bass
A fluid and melodic drummer-less group made up of three of the UK’s leading jazzers, tonight Threeway are joined by guitarist Rob Luft for a special one off show.
7pm The Big Easy
The Big Easy are a hard swinging band from Leeds, playing imaginative new arrangements of songs that we all know and love. The band bring excellent musicianship and on stage chemistry which create a playful and enjoyable performance whether you’re a jazz aficionado or new to the genre
10pm Tetes de Pois
Forged in the fires of Leeds’ late-night DIY scene, Têtes de Pois are a seven piece cinematic jazz outfit whose music, originally intended to heat up local dancefloors, has matured to become something more reflective and spiritual. If you enjoyed the mightly Plantfood as last year’s fest this is the one for you!
Sunday 12th October
10.30am Jazz Cafe
Free, just turn up! Marsden Scouts will be running the cafe as a fundraiser and there will be live music from local artists Terry Kenyon & Julie, Tony & Angie and Phil Calverley
