Description

Winners of Jazz Ensemble of the Year in the 2018 Parliamentary Jazz Awards, the vibrant, communicative performances of the Alison Rayner Quintet (ARQ) are described as “a celebration of life itself” by London Jazz News.

Band members Alison Rayner and Deirdre Cartwright have been at the forefront of championing women in UK jazz for 30 years with the organisation they co-founded, Blow the Fuse.

ARQ’s music combines richly nuanced compositions with folk-infused grooves, skilful musicianship and a love of improvisation.

“Purposeful, full-toned and melodic…a beautifully integrated band” ★★★★ The Observer

Steve Lodder (piano), Deirdre Cartwright (guitar), Alison Rayner (double bass), Buster Birch (drums & perc), Diane McLoughlin (saxophones)
