Jonny Mansfield’s Elftet was formed in 2015 and has performed around the UK and been broadcast on BBC Radio 3. Their sound comes from a mutual admiration between the band, creating endless new approaches and a wide palette of textures and colours, from traditional four horn writing to more contemporary classical music with the use of strings and vibraphone.
On Marsden Moor is a brand new suite commissioned by Marsden Jazz Festival that sets five different poems by Marsden-born poet Simon Armitage in a combination of song form and spoken word. The instrumental parts combine to create new textures to complement and contrast with the poems.
