Sunday 14th October 11.00am – 2.00pm £5 |
|
This is a new and exciting initiative
for the festival. We want to get a
stream of cutting edge and new music
into the festival, giving our visitors
an even bigger goody bag to choose from.
We have invited LIMA, part of the busy
and dynamic Leeds DIY music scene where
gigs are promoted by the musicians
themselves, to put together a showcase
of local talent. One part will be a
performance by a group led by Paul
Hession, improvising drummer
extraordinaire. The other will be a ten
piece LIMA Orchestra with a variety of
small ensembles drawn from it, directed
by Richard Ormrod who says: “This will
combine the musical curiosity of a
boxful of kittens in a grand piano with
high-energy blowing and shape-shifting
textures. We will serve up originals and
the sonic jetsam of the last century in
an improvisational omelette which will
make sure your ears are ready for
lunch.” We are looking forward to it
immensely. |
